We have hated our couch for a long time now. It's a futon, but one of the nicer ones with wood arms and a pretty decent cushion (inner-spring). But we can't both lay on it to watch a movie and the cover doesn't fit quite right. And I really wanted a chaise. To lounge on, drinking a cool punch accented with a sprig of mint, being fanned by...well, probably an electric fan, who am I kidding. And I'd have to share the chaise with 2 cats. But I still wanted one.

We found a great couch on sale at Fred Meyer that had a chaise attached on a Saturday. We put the futon up on Craigslist on a Sunday. We talked about that Fred Meyer couch and decided that maybe it was a bit much for our budget and we could probably find one on Craigslist or something. We had time, we were sure. There were sooo many futons listed!

Tuesday morning J called me. "Someone's coming to pick up the futon tomorrow." We laughed. So fast! My boss was standing next to me. I told her that we were sure that the futon wouldn't sell for ages, but now we have no living room furniture. She said that she was going to ask me if we wanted her couch and chair, since she's getting new stuff when she moves into her new house. "Of course!" I replied, "That's so kind of you to offer!" Just one problem. It's in the back of her storage unit and won't be available until she actually moves into her new place. And that won't be done until the beginning of December.

At least we have 2 pillows and some blankets and a floor. A hard, uneven floor.

Our laptop has been having issues. It won't hold a charge for even a couple minutes. We already sold our desktop and monitor, so we have been relying solely on our little buddy to sustain us. And J really wanted to get a faster one with more memory. To take to school, to sit dutifully clicking away taking notes, cross-referencing...well, who are we kidding here? He wants more memory for more music programs. But still we needed to upgrade.

We found a great laptop on sale at Circuit City online on Friday. We checked it out at Best Buy, since we were in the area, and J was pretty convinced that this would be a good purchase. It was on sale, so we would need to list the laptop now in order to use that money to put towards the new one.

I came home from work last night to find J clearing out the hard drive on the laptop. It had sold already and was being picked up in just an hour. I said, "Great! So we'll need to go to Circuit City like now to get the new one, huh?" J just rocked back on his heels and laughed. He pulled up the page that showed what stores in our area had that particular computer available. Out of stock. Out of stock. Out of stock. 30 miles away even. "No way!" No furniture. No computer. We might as well sell our bed right now and sleep on an air mattress!

At least we have the Play Station to check our e-mail (have you ever imagined how tedious it is to compose an e-mail using a joystick? J tried it last night).
