Busy busy busy at work today, but I always have time to rant.

So, Vice President Dick Cheney. He was being interviewed on ABC News about the five year anniversary of the Iraq War and he listed various successes that have been achieved and that the general consensus is that "we've made major progress." The interviewer asked him how that assessment goes with the polls, that 2/3 of Americans think that the war is not worth it. His reply: So? The interviewer asked him if he cared about what the American people think. But we all know the answer to that, which is "NO," this administration doesn't care what the people think. J and I watched "Sicko" a couple weeks ago and there were two things that stuck out to us: a former member of the British Parliament stated that after WWII the thinking was among British people that if there was enough money to kill people, then there was enough money to help people. If we have enough money to finance a war that has (to date) cost 4,000 American soldiers their lives, then why is the Gulf Coast still in ruins? Why does the richest nation in the world have children that go hungry, students struggling with education costs, and a piecemeal health care system that leaves millions suffering? And don't say it's to fight the terrorists, because if it were, then why is bin Laden still at large? The other thing mentioned in "Sicko" was that in France the government was afraid of the people, and not the other way around. A government that is afraid of the people is a government that works for the people and not one that works for pride and for pork. This is why I think it is so important to be involved in the political process, to turn this country around. Real freedom comes from education, not from a bomb.
